Wildlife and Landscape

Gir is best known for its thriving population of Asiatic Lions, but the park also supports a rich variety of wildlife including leopards, striped hyenas, jackals, crocodiles, and more than 300 bird species.

The landscape is a diverse mix of dry deciduous forests, open grasslands, rocky hills, and river systems that provide ideal habitats for both predators and prey. The famous Kamleshwar Dam, often called the lifeline of Gir, is known for its marsh crocodiles and attracts numerous migratory birds throughout the year.

From lion sightings on dusty forest tracks to peaceful moments beside rivers and reservoirs, Gir offers a safari experience unlike anywhere else in India.
